Liberty Memorial Post # 188

PLAV Liberty Post 188 in McHenry, Illinois, is one of the most active and vibrant posts in the country, with more than 200 members, and stands today as the only remaining physical PLAV post in Illinois. The post has proudly served veterans and the local community for decades from its hall at 1304 Park Street—a facility originally opened in 1980 and completely rebuilt after a devastating fire in 2014.

Post 188 is also home to the National Headquarters of the Polish Legion of American Veterans and includes a thriving Auxiliary that upholds the PLAV’s long-standing mission of supporting American veterans of all backgrounds while celebrating Polish-American heritage.

Open seven days a week, PLAV Liberty Post 188 features a full kitchen, bar, banquet hall, meeting space, and outdoor patio. The post hosts numerous events throughout the year, including its annual block party, Christmas celebration, Pulaski Day festivities, and a wide variety of community gatherings.
