A Tribute to Casimir Pulaski Post #25

by | Feb 24, 2024 | News and Updates

For more than 75 years, the Polish Legion of American Veterans Casimir Pulaski Post #25 has been a cornerstone of service and community in the North Chicago area. Throughout its history, the post became a cherished gathering place where countless memories were made, and lifelong friendships were forged.

At the heart of the post were its dedicated members, among them PNC Joseph Pudlo, whose unwavering commitment to the Polish American community in North Chicago left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

In October of 2023, the post faced a difficult decision. Amidst changing times and shifting demographics, the decision was made to close its doors and merge with the Liberty Club in McHenry, Illinois. This marked the end of an era for the vibrant community of Polish Legions members in North Chicago, which had already witnessed the closure of several beloved institutions, including the Polish Catholic Church Holy Rosary.

The sale of the Post Home, which also housed PNA Lodge 1078, served as a poignant reminder of the changes sweeping through the community. Yet, despite the loss of the post, the spirit of its members remained strong.

Welcomed with open arms by Post 188, members of Post 25 embraced the opportunity for a fresh start. Some even stepped into new leadership roles, ensuring that the legacy of the Polish Legion of American Veterans would continue to thrive.

As we bid farewell to a beloved post, we look forward to the future with optimism and determination. Though the physical space may have changed, the bonds of camaraderie and service forged at Post 25 will endure. Together, we will honor the past, create new memories, and carry on the proud tradition of the Polish Legion of American Veterans.
